Qbiq Wall Systems & SAM Panels Announce Collaboration at Material District 2024
During Material District 2024, Qbiq Wall Systems and SAM Panels proudly announced their new collaboration. SAM Panels’ innovative materials have now been integrated into Qbiq’s iQ PRO Eco partition wall system.
Below is a blog excerpt from Marianne van der Sande, Sales Brand Manager at Qbiq Wall Systems, sharing her insights on this sustainable partnership.
Designing for a Healthier, More Sustainable Workplace
When designing modern, healthy work environments, one question is becoming increasingly important: how can we build more sustainably? One compelling answer lies in using biobased panels within closed partition wall systems. Made from natural residual materials, these panels offer numerous advantages—for both the environment and the workplace.
In her blog, Marianne van der Sande explains how Qbiq’s iQ PRO Eco system aligns perfectly with this vision. The panels are not only highly functional but also contribute to a more sustainable built environment.
What Are Biobased Panels?
Imagine how incredible it would be if Schiphol Airport could repurpose the grass from its runways and incorporate it into the interior of a new office. With Qbiq’s iQ PRO Eco panels, that’s exactly what's possible. These innovative biobased panels, used within a closed wall system, are made from a variety of natural fibres—including grass, hemp, recycled paper, and even cow manure.
The fibres are processed into a pulp and then compressed under high pressure and temperature into solid panels. What makes this process unique is that no adhesives are used, making the panels fully recyclable. At the end of their lifecycle, they can be broken down and reused as raw materials—perfectly aligning with circular economy principles.

Healthy and Eco-Friendly
One of the key advantages of our biobased panels is their contribution to a healthy indoor environment. Unlike conventional materials like particleboard, which often contain harmful substances such as formaldehyde, our panels are free from toxic chemicals, helping to create a better indoor climate. Additionally, because they are made from natural residual materials, their ecological footprint is minimal. This approach aligns perfectly with our Cradle to Cradle philosophy, which promotes the design of products that can be reused over and over again without loss of quality or value.
Innovative Applications with SAM Panels
In partnership with SAM Panels—short for Sustainable Advanced Materials—Qbiq offers cutting-edge biobased panel solutions. SAM transforms fiber-rich residual streams such as grass from Schiphol Airport’s runways, hemp, and cow manure into strong, versatile sheet materials. These eco-friendly panels not only deliver outstanding performance but also offer exceptional design flexibility, making them suitable for a wide range of interior applications.
By integrating SAM Panels into our iQ PRO Eco wall systems, you’re choosing a product that is both sustainable and visually appealing.
Technical Specifications of iQ PRO Eco
Our iQ PRO Eco partition wall systems are available in 100 mm and 125 mm wall thicknesses, offering excellent sound insulation up to RW 52 dB. The biobased panels can be seamlessly combined with other Qbiq systems such as iQ Single, iQ Structural, and iQ PRO Glass, allowing for full design integration across your project. The system also features a sleek 33 mm aluminum profile, contributing to the clean, minimalist aesthetic that defines Qbiq’s signature look.

A Sustainable Partnership
The launch of the collaboration between Qbiq and SAM Panels took place at the MaterialDistrict trade fair in Utrecht. This partnership highlights Qbiq’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to delivering sustainable solutions that contribute to a better world. By combining SAM’s biobased panels with Qbiq’s design expertise, you can now choose a sustainable and healthy workplace—without compromising on functionality or aesthetics.
