Collaboration between CoFurniture and SAM Panels supported by Interreg
Excited to Announce the Launch of Our New #RealiseBio Project: “Developing 100% Plant-Based and Circular Furniture”!
Together with our German partner, CoFurniture from Münster, we are developing an innovative, fully bio-based, modular furniture system. Our mission is to revolutionize the furniture market with sustainable and aesthetically pleasing products made from natural, regionally sourced materials and local organic waste.
This project is co-funded by Interreg Germany–Netherlands. RealiseBio promotes a circular bioeconomy focused on utilizing bio-waste within the cross-border regions.
The project’s goal is to develop a 100% bio-based modular furniture system based on cradle-to-cradle design principles for the circular economy. We are therefore focused on building material cycles within both the technosphere and biosphere, ensuring that the furniture is fully compostable at the end of its lifecycle.
To achieve this, we are producing durable fiberboards made from grass, hemp fiber, and other agricultural by-products. We are also testing new bio-based surface coatings and finishes for long-term use. We are thrilled to be collaborating with so many inspiring partners within the RealiseBionetwork and look forward to sharing our progress!
